To thoroughly implement the concept of industry-education integration in talent cultivation, accurately align with the development needs of the cross-border e-commerce industry, and enhance the practical application capabilities and core employment competitiveness of students majoring in Business English, the Business English Department of School of English Studies organized 2024-level junior college students to launch a 10-day immersive professional internship at Shaanxi Alibaba-affiliated Network Technology Co., Ltd. on October 27, 2025. Guided by the core philosophy of “theory empowering industrial practice and practice forging professional literacy,” this internship aims to build a bridge for school-enterprise collaborative education, helping students accurately grasp cutting-edge industry trends, clarify their career development positioning, and cultivate compound application-oriented talents suitable for the digital economy era.
To ensure the high-standard and high-quality advancement of the internship, the Business English Department of School of English Studies held a professional internship mobilization meeting on the noon of October 27. The meeting was hosted by Teacher GaoYu, and Director WeiZheng of the Business English Practice Teaching and Research Section and Director Zhang Guojian of the Business English Department delivered speeches successively, highlighting key points and clarifying directions for the upcoming internship.
Teacher GaoYu, the person in charge of the internship, provided a detailed introduction to the corporate culture, business scope, and specific schedule during the internship of Shaanxi Alibaba-affiliated Network Technology Co., Ltd., with emphasis on safety precautions, corporate rules and regulations, and professional etiquette norms during the internship. Meanwhile, through clear sorting out, Teacher GaoYu defined the division of labor and contact information of on-campus and off-campus instructors for each day, and specially emphasized norms such as computer room electricity safety, online account confidentiality, and neat internship attire. Subsequently, Director WeiZheng of the Business English Practice Teaching and Research Section emphasized the importance of the internship in combination with the development trends of the cross-border e-commerce industry and the professional characteristics of students. He mentioned that this internship, cooperating with Shaanxi Alibaba-affiliated Network Technology Co., Ltd., can provide real back-end operation permissions of Alibaba International Station and TikTok live broadcast scenarios, which is a key opportunity for students to transform their Business English knowledge into “practical capabilities.” He urged everyone to abide by the internship discipline, take the initiative to consult about practical operation problems, and cherish the transition opportunity “from textbooks to business.” Finally, Director Zhang Guojian of the Business English Department made a concluding speech. From the perspective of “career development,” he put forward requirements for the students: first, focus on skill improvement, focusing on mastering core capabilities such as English product listing, cross-border customer service communication, and live broadcast script writing to form practical achievements that can be used for job hunting; second, pay attention to team cooperation, especially in the group live broadcast practice in the second week, give full play to their respective advantages and complement each other; third, do a good job in internship summary, sort out problems and gains in a timely manner, and transform the internship experience into competitiveness for future employment.
At the beginning of the internship, Li Yina, General Manager of Business Operations of the company, focused on the development trends of the cross-border e-commerce industry, integrated core data such as global market size, regional competitive landscape, and technological innovation dynamics, and through the full-process visual demonstration of “building a cross-border live broadcast account from 0 to 1,” deeply integrated the operation logic of Alibaba International Station with TikTok live broadcast practical skills, effectively enhancing the students' in-depth professional cognition and practical application capabilities.
In the practical training phase, students, divided into groups, fully participated in the entire chain of cross-border e-commerce live broadcast work, successively completing key links such as theme planning, product selection analysis, script writing, camera presentation, and data review. Corporate mentors and on-campus mentors provided on-site guidance throughout the process, conducting “one-on-one” targeted counseling on common problems such as insufficient camera performance, inaccurate extraction of product selling points, and single cross-cultural communication skills. Students deeply integrated Business English communication skills, cross-cultural marketing theories with live broadcast practice, and carried out creative practices around core themes such as “the internationalization of traditional Chinese culture” and “the global promotion of Shaanxi characteristic agricultural products.” Among them, the “Shaanxi Paper Cutting Art Cross-Border Live Broadcast” project won high recognition and unanimous praise from the corporate mentor team for its distinctive cultural characteristics, professional English expression, and innovative interactive design. After the daily internship, students conducted in-depth discussions with General Manager Li Yina on issues such as industry development pain points and professional ability improvement through group discussions and online Q&A sessions, providing valuable guidance for their own career positioning and development paths.
This internship is an important measure for the School of English Studies to deepen school-enterprise cooperation and promote industry-education integration, which has received great attention and full support from both the school and the enterprise. During the internship, the two parties held in-depth consultations on core issues such as talent training standards, curriculum system construction, and the co-construction of training bases, and reached a preliminary consensus on building a “Cross-Border E-Commerce Talent Practice and Education Base.” In the future, the two parties will further expand the dimensions of cooperation, carry out multi-level and all-round cooperation in customized curriculum development, training project design, and employment position connection, build a new pattern of “school-enterprise collaboration and the unity of knowledge and practice” in talent cultivation, and jointly cultivate high-quality compound application-oriented talents that meet the needs of the industry.
At the end of the internship, students unanimously stated that this immersive internship not only systematically improved their core skills such as cross-border e-commerce live broadcast operation and cross-cultural business communication, but also intuitively insight into industry development trends and enterprise talent demand standards, and clearly recognized their own strengths and weaknesses.
