Our students won excellent results in the 9th “FDP Cup” Academic English Vocabulary Competition

The results of the 9th National Academic English Vocabulary Competition have been announced. Through multiple links such as the university-level preliminary competition, the students of the English School of Xi’an Fanyi University achieved good results in the provincial semifinals. Zhang Hao fromSchool of English Language and Culture SELC won the first prize in the undergraduate and postgraduate group. Gao Jialu and other 9 students won the second prize, Liang Xingxing and other 9 students won the third, and Zhang Luyue won the second prize of higher vocational college group.

The 9th “FDP Cup” Academic English Vocabulary Competition, sponsored by Fudan University Press, aims to improve the academic English level of college students across the country, enhance their mastery and application of academic English vocabulary, and promote academic exchanges and research. The competition is divided into undergraduate and postgraduate groups, higher vocational college groups, and the whole process is conducted online. The contestants need to go through three stages of competition, the preliminary, quarter-final and the final, and finally decide the various awards. The number of participants this year reached a new high, which demonstrated the great importance that college students across the country attach to academic English vocabulary learning.

Since receiving the notice, the relevant teachers of SELC have actively organized many guiding activities. This year, Business English majors and Public English centers also organized students to participate in the competition. Mr. Zhang Xiaohui led a special guidance team and arranged experienced teachers to guide each stage of the competition. The instructors led the students to carry out centralized guidance for many times, explaining the question types and test rules of previous competitions in detail, and helping the students to master the idea of writing questions.

This success not only improved the students’ academic English ability, but also provided them with a platform to show themselves, and promoted the improvement of the national English learning and teaching level. In the future, SELC will continue to deepen the integration of competition and teaching, closely follow the curriculum and talent training goals, continue to carry out the linkage mechanism of competitions, and constantly expand the influence and popularity of the school. The teachers will continue to guide the students to forge ahead on the road of academic English and strive to achieve more achievements in more academic competitions.
