The 2022 Asia-Europe Young Leaders Camp and Asia-Europe Youth Forum on Green Development was held from November 29 to November 30 in Xi’an. Liu Zishuo, Shi Biqing, Xu Yiyuan and Li Songrun, four students from the School of English Language & Culture and the School of Translation Studies, participated in the camp online, together with more than one hundred Chinese and foreign youth delegates from Asian and European countries, which showed an image of the students from Xi’an Fanyi University.

The first Asia-Europe Young Leaders Camp was organized by All-China Youth Federation and the Organizing Committee of World Youth Development Forum. The Asia-Europe Youth Forum on Green Development, with the theme of “Building Global Partnership for Green Development”, consisted of six sessions: opening video, opening speech, keynote speech, round-table dialogues, breakout group discussions and group presentations. Through speeches and dialogues, experts and outstanding talents from various fields exchanged new technologies, breakthroughs and ideas, bringing different circles together to jointly promote global green development.

In online group discussion on November 29, Liu Zishuo, Shi Biqing, Xu Yiyuan and Li Songrun discussed and exchanged views with youth representatives from 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Singapore, Malaysia and China. They expressed their views and experience in green development concerning four themes, which were digital technology, low-carbon innovation, green agriculture and youth actions.

Liu Zishuo elaborated on the application of digital technology in the fields of agriculture, environmental protection, education, etc., and talked about the great changes that digital technology had brought to human production and life. In combination with her personal experience, Shi Biqing provided information about the urban greenway in her hometown Nanchang, introduced low-carbon innovation around people, and proposed ways in which the youth could contribute to low-carbon innovation and green development. The two students said that contemporary youth should have global awareness, be willing to undertake responsibilities, and strive for building up a community with a shared future for mankind, and should make use of knowledge they had learned, be creative, and contribute to green development.

Xu Yiyuan explained the importance of low-carbon innovation in light of the creation of the national carbon emissions trade platform and the zero-carbon community, and by mentioning how she and her classmates traveled and lived, called for low-carbon travel and minimalistic lifestyle. Regarding the theme of “green development”, Li Songrun expressed his opinion that youth should keep in mind that “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” and contribute wisdom to the road of high-quality transformation and development oriented by ecological priority and green development.

During the forum, the four students from Xi’an Fanyi University were courteous and wise, and addressed speeches logically with their own views. They discussed with students from other universities in English proficiently and showed their abilities comprehensively, embodying how effective the two national first-class majors of Xi’an Fanyi University, namely English and Translation, were in cultivating students’ talents,.
