The School of English Studies and The School of Translation Studies Held a Deployment Meeting for Undergraduate Education and Teaching Audit and Assessment Work

According to the work arrangement of undergraduate education and teaching audit and assessment of the university, on the evening of January 16, 2023, the School of English Studies and the School of Translation Studies held an undergraduate education and teaching audit and evaluation work deployment meeting to convey and implement the spirit of the university’s meeting on the work of evaluation and to mobilize and the college to meet the various tasks. Yuan Xiaolu, Dean of the English Studies and the School of Translation Studies, Fan Lei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of English Studies and assistant dean of the college, Li Yan, assistant dean, Li Xianhua, assistant dean, Jiang Xiaojun, Secretary of the Party Committee and assistant dean of Administration of School of Translation Studies, Zhang Rui, assistant dean, Zhang Ying, assistant dean, and other members of the leadership team, representatives of the faculty members, and members of the related Offices participated in the meeting. The meeting was online and hosted by Jian Shi, Director of the Administration Office of the School of Translation Studies.

Li Yan and Zhang Rui respectively explained in detail the teaching audit and assessment work and made work arrangements and deployment at the meeting from the guiding ideology, work objectives, scope of assessment, assessment focus, core tasks, organization, and work progress. The two assistant deans made clear the main work of the assessment and the division of labor requirements and asked each specific person in charge to deeply understand the connotation of the audit and assessment system, to seriously carry out the self-assessment report writing and preparation of related materials against the index system, and to grasp the correct working methods, so as to promote the audit and assessment work in an orderly manner.

Fan Lei said that the undergraduate education teaching audit and evaluation serves as an important opportunity to implement the fundamental task of establishing moral character and improving the quality of talent cultivation. Therefore, the whole college should solidly promote the assessment work, complete the task with a high sense of political responsibility, take this assessment as an opportunity to further sort out the deficiencies in the current work, make timely improvements, conscientiously implement the work arrangements, and go all out to better preparing for the assessment.

Jiang Xiaojun expressed his view that the assessment work is all-around and long-term, all faculty and staff should work together towards it. It can be done from the following three aspects. First, we should maintain political integrity; second, we should recognize the responsibility upon and be responsible for each one’s own work; third, we should be clear and precise, and regard the audit and assessment as a measure to improve our work, checking the shortcomings and making up for the omissions in a timely manner. Thus it can be an opportunity to promote the development of the college with high quality.

Finally, Yuan Xiaolu made arrangements for the key aspects of undergraduate education and teaching audit and assessment and the work of the next semester in the following three aspects. First, all teachers and faculties should share the same idea, reach a consensus, and fully understand the importance of the assessment for the college; second, teachers should grasp the key points and details, put them in accordance with the time nodes in order to promote the various stages of the task; third, teachers should develop their own characteristics, highlight their priorities, vigorously carry forward the spirit of solidarity, focus on undergraduate education and teaching, consciously participate in the assessment work, and take the assessment as an opportunity to promote the construction of national first-class majors in the two colleges.
