The School of Translation Studies Conducts the Test of Knowledge on Teachers’ Morality & Midterm Teaching Inspection Seminar

In the afternoon of May 17th, the School of Translation Studies convened the test of knowledge on teachers’ morality construction and the midterm teaching inspection seminar. This seminar aimed to further strengthen the construction of teachers’ morality, standardize teachers’ professional ethical behavior, improve teachers’ professional ethical level, strengthen the process management of teaching work, discuss the problems of the teaching process, improve the quality of teaching, and ensure the normal operation of daily teaching work.

The test of knowledge on teachers’ morality construction was organized by the School of Translation Studies, with each department and room as a unit, and the test was taken in a closed-book way in given time. All teachers took the test seriously and strictly abide by the discipline. The content of the test paper involves President Xi Jinping’s important remarks on education, the Education Law of the People’s Republic of China, and the Teachers Law of the People’s Republic of China, so that the theoretical knowledge of all the teachers regarding their ethics and professional morality can be examine and reviewed. Furthermore, this test enhances the enthusiasm and creativity of the teachers. This test also helped to form a good atmosphere of learning the knowledge of teacher ethics, abiding by the code of professional ethics, practicing the duty of teaching and educating, striving to be a good teacher with four personalities, and solidly promoting the construction of teacher ethics.

After the test, the School of Translation Studies held a midterm symposium on the teaching inspection of this semester. Zhang Rui, associate dean of the School of Translation Studies, Jian Shi, director of the Adiministrative office, Liu Hongjuan, deputy director and counselors, as well as other teachers and student representatives attended the meeting.

At the symposium, combined with their own disciplinary characteristics and teaching work experience, the teacher representatives positively shared their opinions regarding teaching quality and management, teaching reform, pedagogy and research, academic style construction, discipline competition, and student management. A lot of valuable opinions and suggestions are put forward in this symposium.

Student representatives exchanged views on the current situation of teaching management, course arrangement, classroom atmosphere, and academic support, and gave their opinions and suggestions. The participating teachers listen carefully to the students’ opinions.The students answered each other’s questions according to their own experiences. The whole symposium shared a warm atmosphere and had in-depth exchanges of thoughts between teachers and students.

Jianshi analyzed the teaching style and learning style of the School of Translation and hoped that teachers can continue to care about their teaching work, communicate with the college in time when they find students with learning difficulties, and help students grow. She also hoped teachers make more efforts in updating the teaching methods, guiding students to improve their learning enthusiasm, cultivating the comprehensive quality of the students, and tapping the strengths of the students.

In the end, Zhang Rui thanked all the staff for their hard work in teaching, caring for the students, and supporting the work of the college; she hoped that the teachers and the management staff would work together to do a good job in teaching.

This symposium built a platform for teachers and students to give timely feedback, further strengthened the communication between teachers and students, promoted the construction of teaching and learning styles, and played a positive role in continuously improving the level of teaching management and the quality of talent cultivation.
